Updating the contact list – Phase 2

Hi Guys,

As you’ve noticed, we’ve put a lot of focus into getting our contact list updated over the last few months; primarily using the website. The next phase is to start calling guys who haven’t updated their info yet.

We’re looking for alumni in each area to take ownership of calling the “missing” brothers in their area. Our goal is to have all calls made by the end of March.

The list below is organized by area. The numbers are the number of alumni in the area that have updated their info / the total number of alumni in the area.

Please take a look & let us know ASAP if you want to take on an area. We’ve had some guys volunteer already, but we still thought we would open it up to everyone.

North Florida 5/23

South Florida 6/29

Georgia 15/46 (maybe 2 guys here)

Military 1/3

Charlotte 36/167 (probably need 2 or 3 guys here)

Eastern NC 4/24

Greensboro 16/108 (probably need 2 or 3 guys here)

Raleigh 16/46

Western NC 40/196 (probably need at least 3 guys here)

Eastern SC 6/21

Western SC 4/21

Midwest US 3/16

Northeast US 2/13

Southeast US 1/13

Western US 6/21

Virginia/Maryland/DC 3/23

There are obvious reasons why we’re doing this, but there are also some less obvious reasons that relate to one of our “big initiatives” for 2023.

We’re hoping to use our alumni contacts to try to help the undergrads find internships when they’re under-classmen and even possibly jobs when they graduate. The math is simple. The more contacts we have, the greater chance we have of being able to help.

All of the actives are filling out “profile forms” now. The forms will allow the alumni to bettter understand who the actives are, what their majors & interests are and what kind of internships/jobs they’re hoping to find.

We’ll start sharing the profile forms through blog posts very soon.

We have two alumni brothers who have recruiting experience (Matt Harnad BZ 396 and Chris Jackson BZ 445) who will be reviewing the profile forms to make suggestions for improvement, conduting “mock interviews” and meeting with the undergrads individually both via zoom and on campus for coaching sessions on how to interview, how to present yourself in a professional environment etc.

We have no illusions that we’ll be able to find something for every active. If we can help even one of them for the Summer of 2023, that will be a “win” & we’ll shoot for more for the next year.

If anyone has ideas for how to improve this effort or to increase our chances of helping one of the undergrads, please let me know. We’re figuring it out as we go.

Until we have someone to manage this specific effort, you can e-mail me at pwatson@mshome.co or call me at 909-992-9806 with thoughts / questions.

The #1 goal for all our effort is to give our alumni the opportunity to be who we say we are – “The Fraternity of Honest Friendship” and “Brotherhood for Life”.

  1. I can help out in the SW corner of WNC (“WNC” is a big area nearly 20 counties, depending on locale, what you consider as “Western NC”), so need to divide it up further. I can help in Clay, Cherokee, Graham, and Macon counties.

      1. That will work! I can work the SW end of WNC and Josh can work the Eastern end around Asheville, etc.

    1. Sounds good John. Since we need help in Raleigh, we’ll slot you in there. We will also ask for your help with the military guys since there are only two. Thanks!

    1. Got you & John McArthur down for Raleigh man! Since there are 30 alumni we need to reach in Raleigh, when you’re done, we may ask for your help with another area like Eastern NC (20 calls to make) and McArthur for another area like VA/MD/DC (20 calls to make). Thanks!
