HOWDY BOYS!

FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, AT HOMECOMING 2026, WCU IS GOING TO ALLOW TAILGATING TO CONTINUE AFTER THE GAME.

THIS TOOK A LOT OF WORK. SOME KEY ALUMNI PUSHED THE ADMINISTRATION OUT OF THEIR COMFORT ZONE. OUR GOAL HAS BEEN TO GET THEM TO THINK ABOUT ALUMNI TAILGATING MORE LIKE A BIG SCHOOL.

HOW DID WE GET IT APPROVED? REMEMBER THE $1K WE GOT FOR WINNING THE GREEK CHALLENGE LAST YEAR? WE’RE SPENDING IT ON A BAND TO PLAY AFTER THE GAME AT CAMP LAB.

2. SHARE THIS WITH AS MANY ALUMNI AS YOU CAN. EVERYONE IS WELCOME. NOT JUST LAMBDA CHI’S.

WE NEED A GOOD TURN OUT SO THE ADMINISTRATION TRUSTS US WHEN WE ASK FOR OPPORTUNITIES LIKE THIS IN THE FUTURE.

Below is a message from Nationals about the Lambda Chi Foundation’s Ambassador program. They’re looking for one alumni brother from each chapter to be part of the program. Please check it out. If you’re interested, let me know & I’ll share the contact info for the person at Nationals who runs the program.

I’d like to invite you to become a Lambda Chi Foundation Ambassador.

Our Ambassadors help extend the reach of the Foundation by keeping Brothers informed, connected, and engaged. They give us another way to reach Alumni through the people and relationships that already connect our Brotherhood.

Throughout the year, we invite Ambassadors to:

• Share updates about programs and Member impact with Brothers in their networks
• Help reconnect Alumni with Lambda Chi and the Foundation
• Rally support around efforts like the Founders’ Day Challenge and Giving Tuesday
• Host or help organize a Chapter or regional event
• Share what they’re hearing from Brothers and help us identify new opportunities to engage
• And more!

There are many ways to serve as an Ambassador. Regardless of how you choose to be involved, your support helps strengthen our Lambda Chi community.

Howdy boys! A couple of days ago I posted a graph comparing dues payments by BZ from 2025 to 2026. A bunch of brothers have stepped up & paid their dues since then, but the difference is still kind of shocking. See updated graph below.

Good morning brothers.

We lost a brother this week named Rich Egan. In the end, I think we’ll be known for a lot of things… the family we raised, the career we had, the friendships we were blessed with… Lord willing for a little good we did in the world. Judging by the brothers who asked to have this posted, Rich was a great brother. He is definitely missed by some quality men.

I believe the note below was written by Ben Comm.

Lost a great man yesterday. Rich Egan, aka “Egish.” Brother, friend, and cohort in craziness during the late 70’s and early 80’s. A cancer survivor, great athlete, father, and grandfather, Egish was a roommate at the Cullowhee Hilton and later in an apartment under the original Cullowhee Café.

Over the last few years Rich’s health deteriorated maybe due to radiation/chemo-therapy treatments after his brain cancer diagnoses in the late 80’s. He suffered in the end, but I will remember him as one of the strongest men I knew.

We had some unbelievable fun times in college. We even studied sometimes and graduated together in 1983. Rich was also a generous soul and would do anything for his friends.

Rich did not want a funeral so the family will be hosting a Celebration of Life in April close to his birthday.

We love you Egish!! Rest in Peace.

Howdy brothers!

In a little less than a month, a group of us are spending a weekend together in the Whee. We’re going to enjoy our brotherhood. We’re going to go to the Spring football game and a home baseball game. We’re going to drink a beer or three, tell some stories & give each other some shit. If you’re not there, we’ll definitely talk shit about you.

All of this will be done in honor and memory of brother Philip Preston. He’s the guy who wanted to have an annual Spring alumni weekend. He loved Lambda Chi, his brothers and WCU. He wanted us to get together more than just homecoming weekend because “life goes by too fast”. Ironically… his words, not mine.

As long as I’m alive and able, I’ll be at this weekend. Will you? Can you make it? Please let me know. It will help us with planning.

Hi Guys,

One of the goals Cale & I have had for a long time has been to keep the alumni together more at homecoming.

A lot of us see each other in Sylva on Friday night & then we spend time together at the tailgate, but as soon as the game starts we all go in different directions. When that happens, a lot of the “magic” of homecoming is lost until the next year.

We’ve been thinking if we could find lodging near each other, more of us could spend time together after golf / before the party in Sylva on Friday and before / after the game on Saturday.

Cale has worked with Smoky Mountain Country Club to come up with a really good opportunity. See below for links to the 16 condos & one house that are available at the Country Club for homecoming weekend. If we can get a big enough group together, the Country Club will give us use of their Clubhouse (The Persimmon Grille) both Friday night & Saturday night.
