One Day for Western

Dear Brothers,

I hope this email finds everyone well. I’m excited to share a special opportunity from Western Carolina University to double the benefits of your contribution!

The official One Day for Western campaign is on March 25, but all donations made between March 1–25 will count toward this event.

Here’s why this matters:

$1,000 goes toward our Homecoming tailgate if we take first place.

All Catamount Club donations contribute to the Greek Challenge—where we are currently the reigning champions!

Your support elevates our Beta-Zeta Zeta chapter and strengthens Lambda Chi Alpha’s presence at WCU.

Contributions support our Cats as they pursue SoCon championships.

All donations are 100% tax-deductible donations.

I strongly encourage everyone to rejoin the Catamount Club during this One Day for Western period. Your contribution will help us secure these benefits and continue our tradition of excellence.

Please use the link below to donate. My name appears as the official Lambda Chi representative for One Day for Western, and only donations made through this link will count toward Lambda Chi’s total. Once in the link, you can create or sign in to your account (Disregard the attachments.)

If you have any questions, comments, or issues with giving, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your support—your generosity truly matters!

Rest In Peace brother Rich Egan

Good morning brothers.

We lost a brother this week named Rich Egan. In the end, I think we’ll be known for a lot of things… the family we raised, the career we had, the friendships we were blessed with… Lord willing for a little good we did in the world. Judging by the brothers who asked to have this posted, Rich was a great brother. He is definitely missed by some quality men.

I believe the note below was written by Ben Comm.

Lost a great man yesterday. Rich Egan, aka “Egish.” Brother, friend, and cohort in craziness during the late 70’s and early 80’s. A cancer survivor, great athlete, father, and grandfather, Egish was a roommate at the Cullowhee Hilton and later in an apartment under the original Cullowhee Café.

Over the last few years Rich’s health deteriorated maybe due to radiation/chemo-therapy treatments after his brain cancer diagnoses in the late 80’s. He suffered in the end, but I will remember him as one of the strongest men I knew.

We had some unbelievable fun times in college. We even studied sometimes and graduated together in 1983. Rich was also a generous soul and would do anything for his friends.

Rich did not want a funeral so the family will be hosting a Celebration of Life in April close to his birthday.

We love you Egish!! Rest in Peace.

Spring Alumni Weekend in honor of Philip Preston

Howdy brothers!

In a little less than a month, a group of us are spending a weekend together in the Whee. We’re going to enjoy our brotherhood. We’re going to go to the Spring football game and a home baseball game. We’re going to drink a beer or three, tell some stories & give each other some shit. If you’re not there, we’ll definitely talk shit about you🤣.

All of this will be done in honor and memory of brother Philip Preston. He’s the guy who wanted to have an annual Spring alumni weekend. He loved Lambda Chi, his brothers and WCU. He wanted us to get together more than just homecoming weekend because “life goes by too fast”. Ironically… his words, not mine.

As long as I’m alive and able, I’ll be at this weekend. Will you? Can you make it? Please let me know. It will help us with planning.

Homecoming Lodging

Hi Guys,

One of the goals Cale & I have had for a long time has been to keep the alumni together more at homecoming.

A lot of us see each other in Sylva on Friday night & then we spend time together at the tailgate, but as soon as the game starts we all go in different directions. When that happens, a lot of the “magic” of homecoming is lost until the next year.

We’ve been thinking if we could find lodging near each other, more of us could spend time together after golf / before the party in Sylva on Friday and before / after the game on Saturday.

Cale has worked with Smoky Mountain Country Club to come up with a really good opportunity. See below for links to the 16 condos & one house that are available at the Country Club for homecoming weekend. If we can get a big enough group together, the Country Club will give us use of their Clubhouse (The Persimmon Grille) both Friday night & Saturday night.

Please think about this idea & check out the links below. Reach out to me or Cale know if you have any questions or want more info.

Tribute to Lip

Brothers,

We’ve heard over the last 24 hours that a lot of brothers are struggling with losing Lip. I am too. We’re searching for some kind of lasting tribute to pay to him. If you have any ideas, please let me or Matt Harnad know.

I’m heading out of the country on a long trip today. Every day I’m going to hoist a glass to Lip wherever I am & post the picture. I encourage you to do the same. This may seem strange to say but I feel like we need to do something to show how much he meant to us. I think this should also serve as a reminder to all of us not to wait until tomorrow to let those you care about know how you feel because tomorrow is not guaranteed. Love you brothers.

In Memorium – Philip Preston BZ373

Brothers,

It is with profound grief that we must announce the passing last night of BZ373, brother Philip Preston. We have almost no details at this point. When details are available, we will share them.

Please keep Catherine and their boys in your thoughts and prayers as they go through what can only be an unimaginably difficult time.

Lip was a great person and a great brother. He will will be missed by everyone who knew him.

BZ Alumni Instagram account

Good Morning brothers! In order to make sure we aren’t missing any brothers who are on Instagram but not on Facebook, we’ve added an Instagram account for the alumni association. The Instagram account is “lcabzalumni”. The profile picture is the image below.

It’s a private account. If you haven’t already gotten an invitation to follow it, I think you can just search for it & hit “follow”. We’ll approve the requests as fast as we can.

I’m trying to figure out how to link our Facebook & Instagram accounts so everything posted to one automatically gets posted to the other.

ZAX,

Pat
